From The School Photo Podcast, hosted by UKSPA committee member Lee Brooker.
David Lloyd is Managing Director of Aperture Portraits. When Fotek closed suddenly in 2012 and he lost his job, he started Aperture, which has grown to more than 400 schools and over 10 photographers.
David talks about winning schools and building a client base, hiring and keeping quality consistent across a team, and the Golden Ticket initiative, which has given free photo packs to more than 890 families in need. He also covers the 360-degree virtual tours he developed for schools during COVID, and where he sees school photography going: pre-registration, digital sales and upselling, and why collaboration matters.
